About PLD

At PLD, we believe that law serves social justice goals best when used in combination with other initiatives like empowerment, mobilisation, education, etc. The law and lawyers can facilitate the realisation of human rights only when they work in partnership with other social justice actors.

The growth of PLD has been like that of a tree. PLD informs and advances its perspectives, capacities and programme by working in collaboration with field-based groups, campaigns and other actors in the social justice sector, and, in turn, contributes to the sector. Our belief of the relationship of law and social justice is reflected in the programme design.

In our experience growth and achievement has been possible via partnerships and constant synergies with other actors -- much like a tree that grows best with nourishment from the soil, the air and the sunlight around it -- while making its own unique contribution to the sector.
